JASPER | TALAMASCA: THE SECRET ORDER
canon info!
- jasper is an american vampire who takes over the talamasca's motherhouse in london, with the intention of gaining access to all their Secrets™ and eventually destroying the organization in total.
- his character is specific to amc's show, no basis (that we know of) in the og anne rice lore.
- he was turned in his sixties but is youngish for a vamp, with probably only about fifty (???) years under his undead belt.
- his powers include the usual showverse iwtv things, like the ability to read minds (and keep others out of his, to a degree); being extra strong and speedy when he feels like it/isn't too distracted; freezing time, very temporarily, in the physical space around him; healing others' injuries with his vampiric blood.
- jasper also creates and maintains a pack of zombie-like revenant vampires, who are at his beck and call. they're clicker-trained. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- he was actually born as a human in la paz, bolivia, to parents who were part of a blended vampires-and-mortals-chillin'-together coven. after surviving in boyhood that coven's sudden massacre, he traveled alone and ON FOOT (this was 1920-smth ok) to texas, where he settled for a seemingly substantial length of time.
- kid-jasper's coven was slaughtered by a vampire with a grudge against their leader. this coven-killer was informed of the group's whereabouts by a talamascan agent, whom he successfully bribed. this is the source of jasper's own vendetta towards the talamasca. in its pursuit he is apparently willing to extort, maim, kill, and enslave-as-revenants numerous people. however, he appears to retain some (circumstantial) humanity, with all the attendant nuance, humor, and even empathy.
- in his own words, jasper uses people, "...sometimes...there are things i want...i tend to see talented people around me as tools to get those things. i obsess, i strategize. but," he claims, "there is one thing that i do not do. i do not lie. and i cannot stand it when someone lies to me."

- jasper seems fairly powerful for such a youngin' vamp, so it's possible he had an old and badass maker? but we can't say for sure!!
- he's fluent in spanish and may know a smattering of other languages too, considering he presumably grew up around speakers of different nationalities.
- he has no discernible texan accent bc......... idk but my current hc is that over the years, he intentionally let his american accent morph into something subtler. he'd probably be happy to lecture you on how there are myriad regional accents anyway and you don't need one to hold texas in your bones.

at a glance of the average mortal eye, jasper looks like a man in his sixties, lean but hale, not short, not super tall (five-foot-eleven and change). grey hair falls to just above his shirt collar. he seems to show other reasonable signs of apparent age, like wrinkles, and a certain gauntness in spite of residual breadth across the shoulders. he has large hands, relative to his overall size, with veins that were also prominent in younger, mortaler years.
his face is notable, not only because of his features—which even in youth verged on too hatchet-shaped to be properly handsome: long forehead, cheekbones where you see the bones—but his eyes. with contacts in, they're close to the original human shade, a possible but still intense shade of blue. without contacts, they're uncannily pale, somewhere on the glacial palette between crystalline and meltwater.

TAGGING STYLE: present-tense, third-person narrative. typically i'm equally good with brackets or prose, and happy to match your pref. (tho if doing a lot of phone tags, i may ask if you mind a prose-switch)
PACE & AVAILABILITY: in general i'm a slow writer, and def slower with longer, non-texting type tags. my availability is all over the place; sometimes i can tag a bit during the day, but with my current sched i'm more often around on weeknights and random weekend hours.
BACKTAGGING: yes! and in theory there's no time limit on returning to smth, bc i'm always open to picking up again when able. in actuality, however, my brain is a sieve and my rp energy can really wax and wane, so droppage occurs. 😓 if you'd like to continue anything, pls don't hesitate to pm and i'll let you know where i'm at! by this same overall token, i'll absolutely understand if others need to hit pause or drop a thread, for any reason.

FOURTHWALLING: if it's the straight deadpool-style, "one char tells another they're fictional" type, probably not? tho if it's for a specific sl where that makes sense, i'm open to chatting about it. also, i feel like my tags do sometimes include little narrator fourthwall breaks, like a sort of nudge-wink over my char, "get a load of this guy" at the reader, if that makes sense?? but i try to match that to thread-vibe and will gladly eliminate if it's at all jarring.
SENSITIVE TOPICS: i don't need warnings before encountering any of the typical difficult/graphic subjects in-narrative. there will be things i'd rather not actually play out with this char, and i'll always get in touch oocly if i think there's a chance we'd approach them. pls do the same with me at any time!
GEN/PLATONIC CR: i really adore this and will jump at the chance to build it, regardless of how wildly cross-canon. part of the fun for me is discovering this kind of cr in the most unexpected char interactions! also my hc is that the bulk of jasper's lengthier relationships, pre-vamp and post, have been fairly platonic (if only bc he's so focused on preserving their informational integrity). that said, while in a perfect world i'd give gen equal rp time, in this world i do tend to prioritize ship (or situationship, pls see below) sl's for my meatier tags. tbh this is just where my limited creative energy gets the most spend. ofc i will not push shippy angles, or assume an interaction is anything but gen, unless on a shipping meme and/or that interest has been acknowledged.
SHIPPING AND/OR SMUT: listen, if you've also been bitten by the "wanna jump that old man's bones" bug, god bless and i'll do my best to make our dreams come true. my canon ship of choice is jasper/guy. but if there's interest and chemistry, i'm 300% game to ship him with any gender. i do usually prefer some build-up to see how the chars interact, as opposed to jumping right in. open to smut or ftb, and also definitely to UST-situationships, non-sexual fascinationships, and other "not traditionally shippy but there's smth weird and intense going on between them" stuff.
